In my dreams I see a world
Where the grass stays green in autumn
And the sky stays blue in spring.
Snow falls, isn’t cold and sometimes melts.

Where streams run gentle, never silent
Through fields of forest calm
Birds fly low under aspen branches
Because they know no fear.

I have known your gentle touch
Through turmoil and through time.
It reassures me when I am troubled
And calms me when alone.

But I’d rather you be here
Helping me once again to feel
And forever appreciate your love,
Alone, I am numb.
This poem describes images the speaker sees in their dreams about a beautiful world of peace and nature but is lacking the presence of the speaker's lover.

Why the lover is absent is unknown and probably immaterial.

We just get to see the speaker's longing and appreciation for their love.

The question that harkens is if this person is missing their beloved, why don't they just dream about them?  Why dream about missing them?  Are they looking to feel miserable?
