Is that you in the pew
Chewing on that bit of truth
Wondering if it could be you
That the preacher's talking to

You thank God you're not as bad
As the person on your left
Or the other one that sits
On your right, if truth be said

You come to church on Sundays
Do your best to behave
While the rest of the week you say
Thanks, but I'll do it my way

Feeling good about yourself
Isn't that what really counts
If you find the slightest doubt
Just shut your mug and shut it out

Out of sight, out of mind
That is just the devil lying
Soon enough you're bound to find
You shouldn't have wasted all that time

Twiddling thumbs in the pew
Instead of swallowing hard the truth
Sorry to say but yes, it's you
That the preacher's talking to
