Feathers in the fullness
Of a wind through forest trees
Find a home when
They make a nest complete

My soul is changed
A rain drenched sheet of paper
And even under cloudless skies
I can't rewrite my chapters

But you, a brand new page
Reaching for the breeze
Ready to float with dazzled eyes
Give my story hope for an ending
That will let me rest one day
Where my mother rode the ripples
Off into the rhythm of the rain
That cycles through this world
never returns
but always remains.
We all give a little bit of ourselves to life, but giving those pieces to our children make those losses meaningful
