A glimmer of hope
Through the lingering smoke
The cough I know as my wife's
As she ran to my arms
In the background smoke alarms
Still ringing like we couldn't see the fires
Whilst the news just made hearts sink
Of this, you really wouldn't think
In California, no technology, to battle such things
From the beach up unto the forest banks
Celebrity houses gone, Mel Gibson to Tom Hanks
No money can put out such ferocious natural turmoil
But there is always hope
So let's splutter through the choke
And rebuild after the fire and the Hollywood smoke
