Monsoon
He kissed her knuckles, a pale benediction,
and left as the monsoon swallowed the sky whole.
Thunder cracked like bones beneath her skin;
her cigarette hissed, an ember fighting the wet.
His letters, damp with ink, bled the lies she read.
