We’re taught its powerful,
the many truths it holds.
God to gore to greats-
but have we really learnt?
To think is one thing but-
To act is simply beyond.

A mirror faces us,
Cracked and sharp having
Jagged pieces, has been
since we’ve existed.
When will it get fixed?
A child asks, with hopes,
dreams of seeing its
pure face shining through.

One might say never,
As time and time again,
the mirror cracks and screams yet-
The same strokes hit.
The same strokes batter.
The mirror isn’t screaming now,
but is broken, out of repair.

We cannot replace ourselves,
can we? Yet why are the shards
still there? Never united,
Always apart. Just there.
Dreams of fixing are lost
To the child who’s thoughts
are so pure they reflect from
himself, not the mirror.

Yet hope remains,
One by one stand next to it
Yearning to fix, to help,
but first must help their self.
Has humanity really learned from its past mistakes? Then why are we still going through inhumane events, fights for civil rights, etc.
