I wake and look to the trees
Sunlight lapsed for sodden fog
Grey coiled around every needle,
Smoke-signal wisps into the night

I wake and look to the trees
Blinding white dusted like ash
Mourning, slowly, the forest whole
Bends under the weight
Ash
