They scurry around the house
a cat's favourite bait
diminutive cute mice
due for capture, their time all too late

When younger I had their domestic kind
nearly 100 cute and sweet
do not need them now
wild fast and incomplete

I have snared three already this week
my captives I never ****
Just let them out in the park
to somewhere else to dwell

I purr with satisfaction
looking in the pure black eyes
they not know I would not hurt them
till I let them go, then they realise.
