They tell you you're a burn-out
when you go and turn in
something that you turned out
in the second grade
but
nothing's ever simple
when your cheeks are dimpled
and you're popping pimples
two hours before a date,

the square dance turned into that
but you always knew that
and still, you keep on trying
to keep the guys in tow.
