Single words
Sound in time
All hooks, not a line to spare
Gone to tangle

Covers and blankets
Shelter us, shelter us
Envelope us in warmth
Only truth,
All illusion left behind
Wiped away as dirt from our shoes

Why do some,
Strange and twisted folk
Made of webs long spun
Get so much love?
Why do they,
Cruel and cunning,
Cloaked, clothed in deception,
Get love undeserved?

They take, rip and tear,
All that which they are given
Tuck away those flies,
Wrapped in sticky lies,
Glitter in the morning light,
Cobwebs in the night,
Hold our secrets
Hold the empty shell
As my memory fades from view
Fingerprints on a mirror.
