by men that held the door
for me. Now walked out of it when I
was down.  The men that held me
in their arms now hold me in

contempt. I’m spent as a ******,
after it's used.  Cupid has me
confused! The same satin smile
that sang lullabies is now making up

alibis.  I'll not chase butterflies
painted in satin lies. Men
muscular and handsome come with
a high-price ransom. And I've paid it

with my life, weeping
days and sleepless nights. Found myself
full throttle, floating in the bottom
of a bottle. Sparkling eyes that looked

with reverie now cut right through me. Hands
that cupped my face now slap it. I gave up
the chase!
