Mar 2022
Crackling embers simmer below
Snapping loud bursts at the most inopportune times
Curiosity strikes threatening to remind
Of a life so long ago
Memories boil to the surface
Swelling with a typhoon of emotion
Rudely inviting themselves
To cling to a life of what could have beens
It's like a wound never fully healed
Torn apart, ripping at the scab
Bleeding and itchy
Denial burns cruelly
