Don't call me
I am going down to surgery,

impossible in a hospital
not to
feel the pain and yet,
we live perpetually
on the edge of uncertainty
given prescriptions of
invincibility,
hoping for immortality,
but knowing that old bones
are set to remind me
that nothing lasts forever.
