On journeys to my local shops
I see Mary walking her diminutive dog
I always stop to have a little chat
oh my, her dog is smaller then a cat

I am not sure of her age
you never ask that question to a lady
she would beat me with her walking stick
would dear little Mary

She is a very sprightly lass
with not a hint of malaise
she reminds me things that don't vary
that I am not that far behind sweet little Mary
