The Zulu army suffered anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 killed. The battle was a decisive victory for the Zulus and caused the defeat of the first British invasion of Zululand. The discovery triggered a diamond rush that attracted people from all over the Empire, and drew the attention of British imperial interests. The 10 percent of Africa that was under formal European control in 1870 increased to almost 90 percent by 1914, there were vast mega fortunes and natural resources to be plundered and looted plus a pool of cheap labour and yes they were duly taken. Only a few African Ruling Royalty protested and they were swiftly dealt with. The Reds are now after one minor African royalty for revenge because they, the modern reds never got any of the loots plundered. Most of them are on Welfare.
