In the pit there is something stirring
in the pit there is something whirring
a strange glow issues from within
pale creatures, start climbing out the rim

They have very large heads
big bulbous red eyes
ones holding up a box
telling me there's a present inside

It walks in stuttering movements
as the others start to follow
what are these creatures
where from, what depths below

The box is made of granite
with my name on it's silver lid
it hands it to me, with a invite inside
telling me of a party in the pit

Shaking in refusal my head
I tell them to wait till I'm dead
for I am still somewhat rather fit
to be invited to a party in the pit
