We glanced away a moment's time
and slowly both our eyes went blind
Began to follow sounds instead
revisit places in our head
And what we'd seen in there before
was now a mockery of course
My stomach sick with so much ache
I see you bend, I want to break
The numbers roll, the story goes
it's told by those who think they know
But in the end their voice will fade
along with everything they say
If you are still alive at all
I hope that you will catch my fall
Then look me in the eyes again
and see as though you never left
There are some things you cannot change.
