Oblivion
What is there in the darkness?
No footsteps on the ground.
No bright eyes peering out from behind a tree.
No lights in the distance.
What is there in the darkness?
No rustling of leaves as the
non-existent breeze sweeps by.
Not a breath. Not even my own.
No bats or cats are heard.
No, not even a bird.
What is this darkness that
takes away all things?
The stillness of this world frightens me.
This must be Oblivion, for Hell,
at least is harsh and fiery.
This is only dark, still and silent.
Not even my heart has a whisper here.
