I built a wall around my soul

After heartaches struck

I could not fathom my way out

With logic or with luck

Thorns of Love had barbed it

And so dance came to end

Pain across soul's chambers writ

As it bereaved of friends

Will time acquaint me with the one

With strength to fell those walls

And introduce my soul to sun

And end this darkest spell

A soul is not made to be bleak

Its accustomed to life's pleasure

But bitter experience makes it weak

And violates its treasure
