A 3 Year Old Princess

The bottom of my dress

ballooning out,

like a doily on the dance floor.

Feeling like a princess

As I held Mommy’s hand.

Twirling me all around,

Like a ballerina let out of

Her jewelry box.

My greatest dance partner,

To the best drummer in the band.

Notes

My dad was a drummer for a local band. When I was younger, my mom used to twirl me around in circles in the midst of people on the dance floor while he played. My greatest memory from when they were married.
