3000 Miles Ago...

3000 miles ago

I shut off the radio

Thinking of you,

Plenty of bumps on this road

To jostle memories

Of when you used to sit

In the seat next to me

Skipping through songs

Until you found the one

That would make you sing

Like a free bird

Canary in the wind;

Spirited butterfly

In the rear view mirror,

And now

Even in the silence

I hear the echoes

Of all the chorus

Of all your laughter,

If I close my eyes

I can still see

Your hair shifting

In the hurried breeze

And I wish I could

Reset the odometer

In my head

Switch out the alternator

In my heart...
