The reach is far yet near
to my mind as to your dreams
peel the gossamer veils from porcelain lustre
bring the fruits in halcyon bowl with twinkling lights
a Spartan returns and a banquet fitting for a spread awaits
show me the mount of Venus for in Olympus the gods are arisen
come serve me nectar sweet from the ripe honeysuckle
let my teeth find luscious hot flesh seasoned like the Moors do
in supplant glideΒ Β make the gates of flames my retreat
I want to swim the Rubicon in languid strokes
and sink deep in the warm waters garlanded
to find my battle cries in tender howls
and see that in war there is peace
and my trusted sword can rest
tell Apollo I am in good hands
come with me to Aphrodite
show me the valleys
let me feast
again
