We’ll never forget
the isolation
when our arms were empty
as a burnt down forest
though our hearts felt plenty
there was nothing there for us

We’ll never be the same
we’ll never forget
the fear and the pain
of not knowing
and waking up as if it were
an ordinary day
when it was beyond recognition
sitting inside
waiting for remission

We’ll never be the same
Nor should we not
I hope we’ll regain
something that should never be forgot
