oh, to be dancing draped in golden rays
at the end of the world, among whispered things
is there no such place?
i do not wish to remain here

i am invited to the court of wraiths,
the letter scented with bergamot;
their halls are alight with merriment
and i am alight with an unspeakable feeling

if i squint, just so, i can see them -
dancing and dancing and dancing,
ethereal and kind, mischievous and golden
their gowns glittering like freshly fallen snow

but tonight, my eyes are wide open
and all magic escapes my notice
