I used to write her name in longhand
Nearly every day
My first love
But it didn’t stay
Ooh it hurt
Long ago, yesterday

I don’t write her name anymore
I rarely think of her
In gauzy reflection
I remember the good times

I won’t recapture the feelings
Of this erstwhile lad
Just ruminate and reminisce
I’m no longer sad

Long ago and far away
I once loved that girl
But life moves on
And so have we
No longer in each other’s world
