In destitution I went
        to the pet-shop to buy dog-food
        the salesgirl sternly asserted
        ' it would do you no good!'

          I persisted: what dogs consume
         that surely I could
         she gave me a wicked look
         which spoilt completely my day's mood.
* a real story. I tested the idea at a nearby pet-shop and was ridiculed
