Today
The sun kisses his skin through the kitchen window
He ponders over how cruel life can be,
He has been reassured of his outcome
But all he wants to do is weep
The dying flowers outside frown with him
He feels lost
Who can he turn to now?
The sky doesn't talk back
In his mind is where all the memories lay
Objects trigger nostalgia
But it hasn't been that long
He knows he will be okay.
As the void swallows him
There is no escaping from how he feels
The only way through is in
Years afterward
He looks back at his trauma
He knows now that life's surprises pass
The pain is constant
But wisdom abounds
Sometimes we go through rough patches but they pass
