When the darkness calls
it hits like a tidal wave
of deep black water
engulfing my very core,
washing over every cell
until all is lost.

When the wave settles
all that is left is numbness,
numbness of my heart,
numbness of my mind.
My eyes try to reach out to the world
but all that can be seen is grey.

When the light calls
it fills my soul with a blinding light,
warming my entirety
like a blazing furnace,
engulfing my spirit
until all is well.

When the light takes over
words rush through my mind,
bird song is so sweet,
colours are so intense.
My eyes reach out to the world
and all is beautiful.

My insanity is my sanity
day is night,
night is day.
I wouldn't change a thing about it
because this is me.
