At a summer's sunset
I sit on a pier
Alone with my thoughts
With Swans at my feet
As I dip my toes into
The lake's warm wavelets
The hues of Heaven's glow
Dance on mountain cliffs
All around me only
The sounds of summer songs
I drift into a dreamy trance
My heart's beat plays along
All grown now, but I still
Wish upon the stars
One by one shining above
Silver laced misty clouds
The sun sets at its lazy pace
Here there's no hurry
I lie back on the pier
Take in its full glory
Another day on now
Just as a snowflake
Not another like it
It's just another page
I'll turn in the book
Of memories of me
Sitting on a pier
Never once feeling lonely
Though one does tug at my heart
But he is far away
So God wraps me in splendor
Until comes the day
He finds his way to me
Brings me to this pier
We'll make love and promises
Whisper in each other's ear
That as long as there's a sunset
Mountains and summer songs
There will be an Us
Hearts, as One, beating along
