I just learned something today
Pain doesn’t go away as you age
The years go by and the sadness doesn’t leave
There’s still a missing part of you that you want to retrieve.

There are still scars healing all over your heart
That doesn’t change as you grow older.
There are still memories you want to erase
Ones you want to disappear without a trace.

But you learn how to cope
You sometimes seem to grow wiser
As you become weathered and worn
Your burden grows a wee little bit lighter.
