Though I wish it was
like the long-lost love
that I still miss,
or the sweet mist
of soft citrus
squished fruit
that squirted in my mouth
in my youth.

Time is a snake
devouring itself,
scouring souring seconds,
and removing buildings.
Till, thirty years later
I cannot recognize
any of the lost landmarks
from my long-ago life.
