If I could be a city
Which one would I choose?
Venice - the wisdom of water?
New York: skyline views?

Perhaps I might be Bangkok
With the relatives of my wife
Not just now Jerusalem
Sacred - but, alas, full of strife

Not sure I'd endure the winters
In lovely Stockholm by the sea
And I come from a Catholic family
Perhaps Rome is the place for me?

Sometimes my thoughts are large
So I could become Mumbai
And I do quite like dim sum
I'd get my fill in old Shanghai

I could decide to go small
Like my high school in Satellite Beach
Or philosophically profound
But ah! Platonopolis is out of reach

Oh! to be Kyoto
Silent meditation through the night
Or London's levitation
Tyger, Tyger burning bright!

I can see myself as Vienna
St. Stephansdom in sparkling snow
Or the biggest little city in the world
Yes, indeed - Reno!

If I could be a city
Which one would I be?
I'd be a heartstrong human city
A glimmer of eternity!
