there are those forever lonely
but are they ever truly alone
inside a crowd, they never stand out
where few can tell and less even know

spending their life on a burner
to the left, far in the back
not a page-turner, slightly above a murmur
forgotten soon after they're met

living a life out that's lonely
can be a hard sell on the soul
with the question raised, if only one day
lonely would let itself go
