I opened the door
Looked out to the shore
For my friend was on his way
Then I carefully wrote
A little note
For my friend arriving today

We had many a conversation
My dear friend and I
But I do not truly know
If the sorrows I beared
And secrets I shared
Were between me and the lonely sky

My friend's cold stare is empty
It can turn the tide to frost
Although feared and shunned by many
He is welcomed by the ill and lost

I prepared a final drink
For my friend was on his way
And as fog descended upon my eyes
I say him as I lay
