You walked
        through the doors,
              your head
     tilted  down, perhaps
            scared to look
at  my  face  for fear  of
                  what you
        might  see  after  such
            a long 54 years of
                 being apart.

           A length of time
    that would bring anyone
                   to tears.

                 I looked at
          you trembling as you
              stood  before  me
                   and I said,
           "do you know why
after all this time I am still here?"

            "Because when
         love  is  true,  it  waits."
                   "You are
            the  moon  of  my  life.
               guide me home."

                    And when
              we got there we
        slipped  into  an  intimacy
                       from
                   which we
                       never
                   recovered.
