Jun 2019
the onlookers smile with glee
but somewhere in America
another Black man burnt body
hanging like fruit
then swinging like the pendulum
from the sycamore tree
ears fingers and toes severed from
the black man's body for souvenirs
photographs are taken and
traded like baseball cards
among the crowded spaces
still another lynching performed by
the good Christians
that worship Thee
but the strong shall conquer the weak
thus we get our superior power
from the almighty
while the onlookers smiled with glee
lord these men know not what they do
but the truth flows through
the heart of mankind still
but whose fruit are we
