Oct 2020
It sniffed the air,
Whiskers spiked,
Smelling danger,
Instincts psyched.

Ears perked,
Sensing terror,
Eye still, alert,
Heart a-tremor.

In a twitch,
A flash of white,
In burrowed ditch,
It waits 'til night.

Then, as twilight spreads her shadow,
Rabbit merges from the Hades,
There's a friend up from the burrow,
Nibbling grass and meadow-daisies.
