His father passed away in May
Just an ordinary day
He lived so far away
They never had it good any way
Mother called he didn’t pick up
Headed out the door to work
Later that evening he hears the message
Thinks to himself I guess I better go
The roads seem so much longer than before
Heading north his head is full of old dreams
The forgotten the pain
But for mom I will do anything
He don’t have long is what the doctor say
I’m here that’s all that matters
Sitting in the room his eyes met mine
Son I’m sorry and I know its to late
Forgive me I know I did wrong
They shook hands later that day he passed away
He embraced his mother and stood beside his brothers
Father don’t look so strong anymore
Weak and numb tears begin to fall
After a couple days I need to go home
Mom gives me a old compass that belonged to dad
Son in case you are ever lost this is your way home
