"I found it, the other day"
(she'd kept it out of the way)

"I don't recall putting it there"
(sadly, this is no longer rare)

"I thought you had it last"
(her memory is fading fast)

I asked where it was:
"With the pants, socks
And God knows what!"

She'd searched for it,
Forgotten about it,
Remembered it,
And searched for it.
Searching,
Forgetting,
Remembering,
Searching,
Forgetting,
Remembering:
A curse of old age:
So hard to bear
For those who Care.
