Poems
Dec 2018
hummingbird
She listens to
the chit-chattering
little voices
vibrating inside
her small spaces
speaking at
60-70- then 80 beats
per second
the voices
become noises then sounds
and the sounds morph into
a song only she can sing.
I can hear her
in the next room
singing to someone.
- A hymn.
I lift her in my arms
and I can feel her tremble
inside me
like a tambourine
like the birth of a religion.
