Cedric McClester

You needed much more
Than I gave
There was nothing left
For me to save
Especially after all
That you forgave
And I’m gonna take
That to my grave

Wish I could have been
All that you needed
Even though I tried
You weren’t completed
Maybe it’s that I
Was too conceited
To see the warning signs
I should have heeded

I ignored
Everything I saw
Until we ended up
In a cold war
Things were so much
Different than before
And then you
Didn’t want me anymore

I swear I hope
That I’m makin’ sense
Delving back into my
Past tense
I guess the dirt
Comes out in the rinse
When there’s no more need
For any suspense
