Mothers are compassionate
mothers are kind
they are the rock of their family
and raise their young

However, some mothers are not compassionate
nor are they kind
they can be selfish
they can be cruel

My mother is one of these
who constantly feeds such addictions
by using plants
and injecting herself with needles
and god knows what else

My mother never raised me
she forced her mother to
because she couldn't pass a drug test
her mother was compassionate
her mother was kind

she still is to this day
and I call her mine
