You often hear the growling
But it's still hard to tell
From exactly where it's coming
In this hungry town

There's a mumur in the suburbs
A far cry in the getto
I've seen the likes and they don't lie
Hunger pangs are hard to let go

Some are hungry for a change
Some are hungry for their habits
One to save, one to break
Both have got to have it

There is no use in hiding
No sense in the denying
You can tone it down but it's still around
The sound of babies crying

There's a hunger out for power
A hunger to hang on
You can fertilizer a flower
Doesn't mean that it will grow

There's a hunger that stands in wonder
The day it's fully grown
Down on every corner
In this hungry town
