Jack's sat on the chair
it's getting warmer and
the corner is the coolest
place.

Life is like a nursery rhyme
the zest of lemon
a squirt of lime
some time to purse your lips
and oooh
I got that taste on my tongue
did you?

Mary's in the garden
picking parsley
not contrary
just Mary being Mary.

And sometimes it's not,
life,
it really is a horror story
blood and sweat and
things that get you in the
night,
the gory details in the
entrails

jails for those unfortunate
or those stupid enough
but that's enough

I put on a smile
walk the walk down
the crooked mile
over the stile and
far away.
