I thought that I could love you
I was wrong
I wasn't on the path
where I belonged;
I fell into the world of love
and drowned
got lost, confused
couldn't turn around;
We were friends but
never lovers
the miles kept us far apart
I thought I gave you what
you wanted
but I left with
little pieces of my heart.
I don't blame anyone
but me
I was far too gone
to truly see;
I love you but
not the way you wanted
but that's the way of love
that leaves me haunted.
