By sight you see a black man
One of the most feared
And revered
I send images of a criminal
When I stand still
So the world strikes me at will
People see me and immediately think
Athlete for sure or maybe a ****
Hell even somebody plug
But open the black door
To see a Latino standing inside of me
See my name invoked confusion
Because my look with my surname
Doesn’t equal the conclusion
How I can be so black
And salsa all the same?
As if being Spanish
Was a light skin thing
When many Spanish have African
In their brain
I guess we never associated race
With chemistry
Because you can be one race
With a different color
No one has just one mother
So why can’t we be brothers
O because my title
has to match your ideal
So I should shrink grow a hat
And then revert my skin back
Before it turn black
To save time
I will change my name
To something more black
like Tyson or Mayweather
That way you feel better
I’m a mime and clown in one
Because people laugh at me
And look stunned
Whenever my mouth begins to run
