I know that you are tired
that they work you too hard,
and you never get far.

I know that you are afraid
of losing your car,
of losing your job,
of losing your way.

I know that there are
daily concerns of
your children getting hurt
or your spouse leaving you
for some sexier ****.

but don’t let your lovely light
flicker out,
don’t let your laughter die
because I need
your good humor in my life.
