I dreaded
That it would be my tough portion
To hear from you with kindness
That I was just a friend.
It did not make sense to me
It just did not make sense
How we could hang out like dates
But just be friends.
Friends with some benefits
But I fear the benefits are now gone.
So I will be your friend
Until the end of time.
But maybe time is up.
Because although you say I am just a friend.
I fear that we are no longer even friends
So I will step back
To preserve our memories for another day.
