A lone camp site by a slowly flowing river
Situated under large and shady tree~
A bed roll in a soft protected spot
An old much loved dog for company~
The quart *** can upon the fire simmering
Coffee hot again real soon~
A starlit night almost upon him
And again that largest yellow moon~
A mouth ***** to play old tunes upon
To bring back a memory of back aways~
His horse and pack horse in makeshift yard
He had come here before in earlier days~
A place to simply meditate about his life
To spend some time alone~
And get back to being just himself
All upon his own~
Old *** n fry pan for cooking
Supplies he has along~
An old cowboys meditation
Just like in an old time song~
Life has had him slightly up a creek
As if up there without a paddle~
All an old cow poke only needs most of all
Is his boots his horse and saddle~
Sleeping with his old hat over eyes
Rolling a smoke every now and then~
A few days away from the daily grind
He does this every now and agen~
Gives him time to think about
How times have changed so much it seems~
An old cowboys meditation
To reconsider a few old dreams~
