Ivana went out at night telling
Zona that she wasn't going
in the woods; the nymph lying
speedily churches thwarted in
thirst Ivana went into the thick
shade crawling reptilian seeing
grass blades as knives; Zona
lights a cigarette on an ember
from the fire sitting in a blanket;
how could she not inquire
of the stars through the tarot;
Ivana returned her mother's pearls
to the jewel box, Zona sleeping
Ivana taking the lit cigarette
from her fingers; the lying
nymph at the window whispering
yellow songs in night colors;
Zona sleeping through the night,
Ivana sneaks out again to drink
more of the shadow's darkness
